My PC gets freezed/hanged quiet often even during startup. What are the reasons and how to rectify?
I have: Pentium III
WIN XP PRO
128 MB SD RAM
I wish to upgrade the memory to atleast 256 MB but SD RAMs are not available. Hence I have to upgrade the whole system to get matched configuration. At my present configuration, are there any ideas to overcome these frequent hanging problems without changing any hardware upgrades?
Go to second hand market at www.ebay.com and you will get the desired SD RAM available.
Secondly, Win XP Pro requires atleast 256 MB RAM. Go get it.
The other things that you can try are as under:
Right click on My Computer go to Properties> Advanced> Virtual Memory > Set Size of VM or Page files as it is called manually to the possible maxima as Initial size 512 MB Maximum size 1024MB. Set configuration of the PC for Best Performance.
Secondly, go to msconfig and go to Services, disable the services that you donot use. Please note that you need to know what service you are stopping or disabling. Go to startup and deselect all services. Press APPLY and then restart.
Do get help of some one who knows about windows services to supervise your exercise.
